Minimalist House Design, Just an Idea, Trend, or More Than Necessary?

Minimalist house design, just an idea, trend, or more than necessary? Minimalist style is now a favorite building in the metropolis. General speaking, this model is easily found in public housing, from low-income housing to luxury housing, or in the interior design of a cafe or an office building. The first looks like a uniform, but with detail added to make people know that each home reflects the owner.

Minimalist is a mindset, work, and lifestyle. A new vantage point in viewing design as a reflection of urban lifestyle, which is usually simple, practical, dynamic, and efficient. Creation of architectural buildings, including modern minimalist house, is the choice for form of architecture, born from culture and needs. Not only follow the trend recently.

For that reason, modern minimalist house is equipped with more tangible characteristics, a simple shape and design of geometric space, strong with the empty spaces are minimalist in ornaments and furniture. Selected furniture has multiple functions to accommodate the needs of all family members. Design principle is simple enough so that the quality of design and function space available should be more fit.

But the frequently asked question that usually arises is whether a modern minimalist home should be a simple compartment or any other form? The answer is a form of minimalist modern homes do not have to follow the form of simple or simple geometric compartments. If the house that only needs a simple compartment, it means that the simple compartment is the result of a process of function space needs, not by force or follow the trend.

And then people ask whether the parameters minimalist home means a cold feeling or impression of less fresh? Minimalist form the basis of design and also for the decoration itself. Minimalist here is based on a simple and efficient. minimalist interior is the arrangement of the interior who prefer to the functional and practical. This setting is emphasized on efficient design. Straight line, plane, crossing the surface of which is always 90 degrees, and perpendicular.

Then people are worried whether this is a minimalist design will spend a lot of money or not. The answer is relative depending on the detail of the building itself. With minimalist design, the type of materials used will be effective and efficient. Use of some materials such as wood, brick, stone, glass, or steel can also appear as an individual. The dominance of a particular material will give different effects.

Home Design Garden by Tham & Architects Videgård

This park is home design. Tham and Videgard, Swedish Architecture Firm has successfully completed a project called House Garden. This house was built on an area 180 meters square in Viksberg, Sweden.

The owner wants a beautiful garden as part of their home, and the reason why they decided to move from their duplex apartment in central Stockholm to the rural location in the lake Mälaren. To meet customer needs, we propose a house conceived as an integrated vertical additions to the garden, where indoor and outdoor space gradually mingle and interact.
Triangular foot print is the result of a steep slope diagonally across the site. With one of the long facade facing south, we also managed to eliminate the pure north façade. This further helps the idea of climbing plants on trellises oversized high that covered most of the windows so that by the time they will be hidden in the greenery.
A double height winter garden also serves as a natural pre-heating fresh air. Roof terrace offers views of a very long above the nearby hills over the lake Mälaren. Construction is all wood, both structure and finish.

Design House Brings Green to Misa

Started by David Wax and his partner Ben Uyeda, FreeGreen is making green home designs free for everyone. 2005's Solar Decathlon blew us away, but we are fascinated by the amazing Solar House from Cornell University. This team brought home a beautiful zero-energy to the mall in Washington, DC, and has just launched ZeroEnergy Design, home design firm focused on zero-energy design. Continuing their momentum as green home design teacher, two of the Cornell Solar Decathlon team has just launched a new effort that aims to bring green design to the masses through a special innovative business model called FreeGreen.
FreeGreen provides a selection of green home design for free, with a variety of styles from traditional to modern. While the basic design for free, homeowners can take the process further and customize their designs with the cost (and very reasonable) extra. The cost of the design process, and free house plan, kept to a minimum through partnerships between FreeGreen and green building products manufacturer - paid placement from product manufacturers.
As homeowners consult with FreeGreen to design customized, they are introduced to healthy, energy efficient, sustainable products that sponsor FreeGreen's eco-companies. This is a collaborative win-win-win that introduces people to the principles of green building and products and allows consumers on any budget to have a custom-designed, green home.
In the end, FreeGreen is about providing people with options and knowledge to make decisions. Green building products are widely available, but sorting through various options, or even know where to look, is a daunting task for most new homeowners. Freegreen solving this problem by offering a very good green building consulting with little cost to the consumer. According to founder, "is the goal at FreeGreen not produce environmentally friendly home possible but rather to provide a variety of different home plans that allow people to create homes to suit their lifestyles in a responsible and fair."
FreeGreen launched this month began with several great designs including our favorite, The Loft Suburban, modern home suitable for all climates. Marked with an open floor plan and loft ceiling space, this design will be available in various sizes to meet a lot of lifestyle and landscape.
We think FreeGreen is a great idea and a wonderful way to bring information, innovation and green design options for everyone - We are very excited to announce the launch of FreeGreen "because green design should be accessible to all." [Via]

Favorite Room of the Day-Neutral Bedroom

We like colors most of the time, but we like neutral, quiet colors some of the times too.  It's calming, it's serene, and if you are surrounded by colors and patterns all day long like we are, it's a nice respite.

That's why we're liking this room today.  It's a little boring to some people, but aggh, sometime that's just what you need...
